The issue is the door zips to the side and not to the roof and the taper means that if the door is open then there is a direct route for the rain to come into the tent (not helpful considering the weekend I had). I solved this by getting a cheap tarp and placing it over the door way (not unlike the picture above). This gave me some shelter while cooking and a chance to have the door open and get some fresh air in the tent without worrying about the chance of sudden storms appearing.
